What’s Cooking!

Hello all,
So I’ve recently been practicing my baking skills. I recently offered to host Thanksgiving at our place so we could showcase our new 6tf antique dining table and bench. I also did this because I love anything pumpkin and right now is a great season to try new recipes.
I tried a new recipe last night from an old family recipe book (not mine) I found antiquing. They turned out great!

Here’s the recipe. Very easy and quick to make. 🙂 I added 2tbsp of chia seeds and flax.

My cooking essentials. Beer, measuring cups, measuring spoons, cook book and a taste test. Batch one good to go 🙂

My snoopy little munchkin wanting to see what’s cooking. (Dont worry this was after the cooking was finished. And the apron was washed)

Just playing around pretending to be kangaroo’s. Lol

I hope you enjoy the recipe. Its soo tasty and a great little fall snack.

Bus Terminal Diner

Hey all
Today I finally got to go to a cute little breakfast diner that I have been itching to go to. Its called the Bus Terminal Diner. This great little place has been open since 1948 and remains to be a Toronto landmark.

This is the retro front entrance.

Still has the original food menu above the bar.

The specials.

My delicious meal. All of this $5.95!!! And the potatoes were to die for (note the yolk did not come broken, I got excited and took a bite before the pic: S)

Cute little shrines along the walls of old celebrities.

Overall we loved the place. The food was great, service was greater and the original retro decor was awesome. We will definitely be returning: D

Bus Terminal Diner is located on the NE corner of Danforth and Coxwell.

Green Monster

Posted on

Hi all
Sorry for the lack in posts recently. I’ve recently been in a weather rut. Today I am going to do a little post on healthy eating. Over the last few weeks I have been drinking these shakes I discovered online. Its called the Green Monster Movement. Basically what it is, is a homemade shake you drink to start off your day. Since I’ve started I must say that my energy levels are up and I feel great.

image

Tada! Here it is. The Green Monster.

Ingredients
2 cups of fresh spinach
1- 1 1/2 cups of milk, soy milk, almond milk
1 banana
Ice cubes
1-2 tablespoons of flax or Chia (I use both)
And that’s it. It literally take 5 mins to make and its a nice healthy breakfast.
If your not a huge  of the flavor just add 1/2 a cup of fruit juice.

I know its not much to look at but the flavor and benefits are worth it!

Fish Tacos

This week me and my man decided to try a few new recipes.  I decided to share this one with you as we really enjoyed it, and it is nice and healthy.
We got the recipe from the monthly Alive magazine.

Not the best presentation but they sure tasted good.

Here is the recipe for the tacos. We didnt make the pickled shallots nor did we use cilantro. We used chives instead and we also added some hot and spicy salsa.

The Ceili Cottage

Yesterday me and my man decided to go out for an early St Patty’s day drink without having to wait in line. We went to the local Irish pub for a beer an oysters. I must say that this place is awesome.  It is like someone shipped this pub straight from Ireland.  Its got brick walls, thick wool tables, pot pie, mac and cheese, oyster shells in the patio ground.
Every year for St Patricks day they put a big tent out on their patio for the week. They have Celtic dancers and great Irish whiskey.  All in all I love this place and highly recommend going. Just be warned that they fill up quick.

Irish beer and tasty oysters makes for a great early St Patty’s day evening.

Happy early St Patty’s day!

Beachside Grill

Every weekend me and my lovely gent go out for breakfast in the area. We like to try out new places and we figured we would check out the Beachside Grill after seeing earlier in the week on one of our walks.
We went in not really knowing what to expect but were pleasantly surprised.  The food was good and there was alot of it. The plates were huge. Claude had the Hungry Man and he definitely was not as hungry as he thought.

Keep in mind this is only for 2 ppl.

All that food for under $20 bucks. I definitely recommend this place if your looking for a great little diner, and a cozy little ambiance.
